1. Who can participate in the Kris Yip Memorial Fondo?
The Fondo is open to cyclists of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned riders. We offer three route options—60km, 95km, and 120km—so you can choose the challenge that suits you best.
2. How do I register for the event?
You can register online through our website. Visit the Events page, select your preferred route, and complete the registration form.
3. What’s included with my registration?
Your registration includes:
- Access to fully supported routes with aid stations and course marshals.
- A custom KYMF Tacx water bottle and custom KYMF socks.
- Post-ride meal and access to the after-party with food trucks, music, and vendors.
- A memorable day celebrating cycling and community!
4. What are the start times for each route?
This year will be a mass start. That means all distances will depart at 8:00 am. Be sure to know your route and follow signage for your distance.
5. Where does the ride start and finish?
All routes start and finish at Canada Games Plaza in downtown Prince George.
6. What should I bring on ride day?
Bring your bike, helmet (mandatory), and any personal items like water bottles, snacks, and extra layers. Don’t forget sunscreen and any tools or spare tubes you may need for your bike.
7. What kind of support is available on the course?
The Fondo offers fully supported routes, including:
- Aid stations with water, snacks, and basic first aid.
- Course marshals to direct and cheer you on.
- Support vehicles for mechanical assistance and rider transport if needed
8. Can I change my route after registering?
Yes, you can switch to a different route if needed. Please contact us at least a week before the event to make changes at krisyipmemorialfondo@gmail.com.
9. Is there a cut-off time for completing the ride?
Yes, for safety reasons, all riders must complete their route by 3:30 pm. Support services will be available until then.
10. Can I participate as part of a team?
Yes! Teams of four or more are welcome, whether you’re riding with friends, family, or coworkers.
11. What happens if it rains?
The Fondo will take place rain or shine, so please come prepared for all weather conditions. Safety is our top priority, and we’ll adjust course support as needed.
12. Is there parking available?
Yes, there will be free parking available near Canada Games Plaza. Details will be provided in your pre-event information email.
13. What is the after-party?
After you finish your ride, join us at Canada Games Plaza to explore a variety of local vendors offering unique goods, grab a souvenir to remember the day, and soak up the vibrant community atmosphere with food and music. It’s the perfect way to cap off an incredible ride!
14. Can I get a refund if I can’t participate?
We understand that plans can change. Refunds are not available at this time, but you do have the option to defer your registration to the following year. Please refer to our refund policy on the Info tab, Rules & Regulations for details.
15. How does this event support heart health awareness?
The Fondo raises funds and awareness for coronary artery disease (CAD) detection and research in active populations, a cause close to the hearts of Kris Yip's family and friends. Through your participation, you’re helping us advocate for better heart health care in the North and beyond.
16. Is there a place to store my bike and gear after the ride?
Yes, we will have a secure Bike Storage Area at Canada Games Plaza where you can safely park your bike after completing your ride. You’ll also find a designated Bag Check area for storing any personal items during the event. Both services are free for participants, but we recommend labelling your belongings for easy identification. Our volunteers will be on hand to assist!
